News Sentiment

Try <TREN> in Bloomberg to see which companies have had the most positive or negative news.
Go to Bloomberg's news menu to see the range of other news options such as Social Media Velocity.

News sources

Global News

Factiva - has over 30,000 sources from more than 200 countries in 28 languages. It covers, news wires, top blogs, newspapers (both print and online) plus trade and professional press and some TV and radio transcripts. Date coverage varies by title.

The Wall Street Journal (print and online) in Factiva goes back to to 1985 in full text and the Financial Times (FT) back to 1981 with a one month embargo. To limit your search just to the Wall Street Journal go to Source.

Note that in Factiva you cannot browse a title to see the latest issues but you can limit your search to specific titles or to only include sources of a certain type (legal for example), or by region or industry. You can also choose not to include news wires, or to only search major news titles.

Project Syndicate

Ignore prompts to "Subscribe" or "Log In". The Library's enterprise subscription to Project Syndicate provides full free-to-read access; this excludes personalization features.

Project Syndicate is an international media not for profit that syndicates commentary and analysis on key global topics from economics and the environment to human rights. It attracts eminent authors because of their global audience.

Business and Finance News 

 LBS has a subscription to the website for students staff and faculty full access to content including the apps. You must pre-register for an account using your email address. - registration required. 

Bloomberg News - (Finance Suite only) News functions include: <N> News, <TOP> Top news, <NSE> News search,<SALT> Suggested real-time and daily news alerts. Use <TREN> for the news sentiment tool.

S&P Capital IQ Pro (registration required) - Previously known as Market Intelligence or SNL Financial, S&P Capital IQ Pro  provides industry-specific financial market data on public and private companies. We have a direct subscription to their banking and finance coverage or you can find their news services in Factiva and Proquest. They have also recently added some Dow Jones news content to their platform which includes some articles from the Wall Street Journal

Trade and professional titles

Proquest Business Premium Collection - Good for its range of magazines, trade press and news sources. It includes:
The Economist (1992 to date as plain text only.)
The Financial Times (1996 - present, delayed 1 month)

Business Source Premier - Better for trade press and magazine articles, few newspapers. Notable titles include:
Fast Company, Fortune, Forbes, Campaign, American Banker and also academic titles such as: Harvard Business Review and MIT Sloan Management Review.

The Economist

In our A-Z list of database find a link to register for The Economist -  providing access to the website and mobile app. You can sign up for customiozed alerts/newsletters.

Alternatively the full text of The Economist from January 1992 to the present can be found in the Proquest database. Use this link.
