Learn about the Pharmaceutical and Healthcare industries

Look for quarterly Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare reports available for a number of countries.
Good for forecasts.

IBISWorld                  

Provides detailed market research reports for UK, US, China and (limited) global.
Relevant reports include Pharmaceutical Wholesaling in the UK, Medical Research in China, Global Biotechnology and Speciality Hospitals in the US.

ThomsonOne

For quoted companies and their markets (plus M&A and PE).
For detailed city analysts' reports go to > Screening >research> Research Search.

Search for keywords in the Title or use the NAIC 3254 for Pharmaceutical and Medicine Manufacturing or 62 for Healthcare and limit to industry reports.
N.B Extend the date range to at least a year

Also covers Healthcare systems in various countries and topic of digital healthcare. Includes a lot of data on Covid-19 and a dossier on the response of Pharma and MedTech companies.

World Health Organization (WHO)

PhRMA produces a number of reports including an annual industry profile.

 

Department of Health
Reports and statistical data from this government department.

 

OECD Health at a Glance
2019 report from the OECD providing comparable data on health systems in OECD countries.

 

Congressional Budget Office
The CBO provides analysis of spending for the US Congress.  There are a number of reports on US Government spending on healthcare.

 

National Center for Health Statistics
Data and reports for this US government agency.

QuintilesIMS
Formed through a merger of IMS Health and Quintiles. This company provides data and analysis. Much of the content / tools are available for a subscription.  However there is a limited amount of content available free of charge.

Quality Care Commission
UK organization that conducts inspections of hospitals, care homes etc.. Produces annual State of Care report

News and keeping up to date

Science Direct                  
 
Covers business and sci/tech. Strong on medicine and healthcare topics. Not all Health Sciences titles are included in our subscription, but some are, and others have some articles available on open access.
Factiva Our global news database with news wires, newspapers, websites and trade and professional titles. For more targeted results try limiting the sources you are searching by industry e.g. Biotechnology or Healthcare/Life Sciences or Pharmaceuticals.
